U.S House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has proposed allowing full-time federal government employees to work only four days per week and still receive their full paychecks and lavish government benefits. It’s a scam to rip-off the American taxpayer, justify hiring more government bureaucrats and pay off the powerful labor unions that represent federal workers.
Boehner: Dems' Plan for Shorter Federal Work Week "An Insult to American Workers and Families..
Washington, Aug 22 - House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today criticized Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) plan for a four-day work week for federal employees. As reported in this morning’s Washington Post, Hoyer sent a letter to the federal Office of Personnel Management earlier this week, asking the agency to “undertake comprehensive analysis of the transitioning to a 4-day work week for all possible federal employees and inform me by August 31, of any additional actions Congress would need to take to implement such a policy by the end of fiscal year 2008.” click here for the full story
Sign the Citizens Petition to Congress Opposing Steny Hoyer’s Bureaucrat Four Day Work Week!
WHEREAS, the burden of allowing federal bureaucrats to work only four days per week and still be paid for a five day’s of work will fall on the shoulders hard working American taxpayers who are not afraid of putting in a full week of work for a full week of pay;
WHEREAS, the Federal Bureaucracy is already an inefficient mess and reducing the amount of days bureaucrats have to work in order to receive their full pay and lavish benefits will result in even more government inefficiency and waste;
WHEREAS, federal bureaucrats already receive generous pay, regular cost of living raises, lavish health benefits and retirement plans that most American workers only dream about;
WHEREAS, government bureaucrats are renowned for their inefficiency and terrible customer service and rewarding them with less work for the same pay will only make problems worse;
WHEREAS, Congressman Hoyer’s four-day work week plan is simply a “gift” to labor unions that help bankroll his and his colleagues’ political campaigns.
WHEREAS, it is irresponsible of our elected officials to ask the American worker to pay their taxes when the Federal Government is going to decrease the amount of services they can provide;
WHEREAS, there is no evidence that the same amount of work can be done with the four day work week as opposed to the current five day work week that most ordinary Americans must work;
WHEREAS, this outrageous give-away to already unproductive federal workers will lead to delayed government benefits checks, tardy tax refunds and even worse service for our military veterans.
THEREFORE, Be It Resolved that I, a hard-working, honest tax-payer of the United States of America do hereby DEMAND that the U.S. Congress oppose allowing all federal workers to work only four days per week and still receive their full pay.
